"Six weeks, 5 days a week, 10 minutes a day... sounds like a lot..... but it was the BEST time and money we have EVER spent to know that our two-year-old now has skills that might help save his life one day... and skills that will help him have a good foundation for life in the water..Darlene is awesome.. The results are amazing! It's refreshing to see someone as passionate about their cause as Darlene is... we love Safe Swim NC and 'Miss Darlene'."
"Mrs. Darlene took my two uncooperative preschoolers and taught them to float. She was patient and gentle but confident and firm. She knew when to back off and when to push. She treated my children like family and loved them through this process. I was very hesitant at first to put my children in this program but watching my daughter float all over the pool because she now wants to makes me so happy. We will be continuing with maintenance and refresher lessons as their bodies and skills grow. If you are on the fence or wondering if it is worth the money, I can tell you that it was so worth it for our family. I feel more secure knowing that my kids can float and SURVIVE if they need to and that they are on their way towards becoming proficient swimmers."
"Darlene is an amazing instructor; she was so patient and gentle with our 10-month-old daughter. Most kids don't like to float but it's essential for self-rescue. Darlene worked with Raelin through the crying, calmed her, and taught her how to turn and float. It's scary and fascinating to watch! Totally worth the time commitment and money."
"Last week while we were at the beach, Harper was playing on the stairs in the pool just as she had for the few days before. My husband and I were both watching her less than two feet away. He was playing with our older kids, and I looked away for about 5 seconds when my phone jingled. When I looked back up, I immediately realized Harper had gotten in front of the jet on the stair and lost her balance. It pushed her off the stair and about 3 feet out into the 4 foot deep. My husband happened to glance over at the same time; I screamed and he lunged in after her. Harper was calm as could be and wasn't making a sound. She had a terrified look on her face, but she was doing exactly what she had been taught to do. She was floating on her back! Four weeks before our trip, after MUCH hesitation and back and forth, I made the decision to enroll her in ISR. I was really nervous about enrolling her. I wondered if I was putting her in danger. Did I trust the instructor? My biggest fear was that she would dry drown. After the first few lessons, all my fears were put to rest as I was seeing the progress she was making! I am confident that had she not been taking ISR lessons, she could have drowned. I am eternally grateful to her amazing instructor Darlene Haskins for teaching my baby girl the skills she needs to prevent her from drowning! Local mommy friends, if you haven't heard of or have been on the fence about ISR... Do it!! I can't sing enough praises about our experience!"
"I'm so thankful ISR was offered in our area and couldn't ask for a better instructor. Darlene is patient, friendly, very knowledgeable, she takes her time answering any questions you may have. My son started his 4 week session 2 weeks before his first birthday. He is more confident being in the water. In his 3 weeks he has learned so much. Yes - they cry, they want out, not because of Darlene, but because she is pushing them to learn new skills and do the best they can. Putting my son in these classes is one of the best decisions that I have made and I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity. You will not be disappointed in the class or in Darlene, and you'll be giving your child life-saving skills. Thank you Darlene! I know my son if safer in the water because of you and the ISR program."
"ISR is a very tedious process in which Darlene first develops a trusting relationship with your child so she can help them build the necessary survival skills in the water and leads to the child gaining the confidence he or she needs to perfect those skills. She is very patient and compassionate throughout the process. We think Darlene is very special, and we are so pleased with the survival skills both our 9 month old and 3 year old learned from her knowledge and expertise in Infant Swim And Rescue!"
"AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!! We're so glad that we put our son in ISR lessons. It's one of the best decisions we've ever made. Darlene is excellent and the best instructor we could've asked for. She is so patient and genuinely cares for her students. We can't say enough good things about it and we tell everyone we know or meet. As soon as our youngest can sit up on his own, you better believe we're signing him up."
"After years of lessons at different places, I finally found the two best swim teachers around! My daughters, ages 5 and 8, have learned so much from Darlene and Ryen Haskins. I paid for private lessons for my girls last year and even after some progress, my 5 year old still wouldn't get off the pool stairs all summer long. I no longer have that problem. Swimming, floating, holding their breath without holding their nose and all this without any flotation devices. We are joining a pool this summer because I'm no longer afraid to bring my girls to the pool by myself. Finally, a summer we won't be bored and hot!"
