Water Acclimation is perfect for families with babies ages 2 months to 6 months! This is designed to help educate you in the water with your child and what you can do with your child in the water. This also prepares the child for ISR, as they will already be used to getting their ears and face wet, as well as laying on their back with you. We will also give you things to practice at home as well while you wait for your ISR lessons to start. We will provide you water safety education along the way as well!
With a focus on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons by certified Instructors, ISR’s survival swimming lessons emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations and parent education to deliver the most effective and safest results in the industry.
Lessons for a 6-12 month old focus on teaching the child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this life-saving position until help arrives.
Lessons for children 1-6 years old focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, where they can either crawl out or until they can be rescued.
Our American Red Cross lessons are designed for children ages 7+, teens, and adults of all skill levels. Beginners are first taught the basics of breath control, floating front and back, and basic swimming skills. Swimmers who have mastered the basics and are comfortable in the water may be taught how to retrieve underwater objects, how to use a snorkel with front strokes, the four competitive swimming strokes and swim team preparedness, and more.
Students that have been through ISR with our ISR Instructors can move to one of our American Red Cross Instructors when they are ready for stroke work. This will not be before they are 3 years old. All students under 7 will need to go through ISR first.
All lessons are private and taught by one of our American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors.
